LANGSTON, OK:  The thirteenth ranked Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (14-3, 9-2 RRAC) took a 79-69 win at Langston University (5-12, 5-7) on Saturday.
 
The Rams blitzed the Lions with a 13-0 run that brought the score to 19-8 early on.  Langston kept the margin around double-figures until Texas Wesleyan closed the half on a 10-0 run to lead 41-23 at the break.
 
The lead jumped to 20 at 45-25 two minutes into the second half.  The Rams were in cruise control the rest of the way.  Langston managed to cut the margin to single digits at 51-42, but never threatened to come all the way back.
 
The Rams outshot the Lions 49%-39% from the field.  Texas Wesleyan hit each of its first 12 free throws and finished at 28-of-35 (80%) for the game.  The Rams also led 41-32 in rebounds, but 23 turnovers led to 24 Langston points.
 
Eric Frederick led the effort with 28 points and 15 rebounds.  Ronnie Moss finished with 24 points and eight boards.
 
Langston was led by Emil Clayton’s 24 points.  Nate Barfield contributed a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
 
The Lions will get a second shot at the Rams on Monday.  Texas Wesleyan hosts Langston with a 7:30 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
