Rams Sweep Weekend

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (12-5) finished off a three-game weekend sweep with a 13-4 win over Central Baptist College and an 8-1 win over Dallas Christian College on Saturday.
 
Against Central Baptist, the Rams jumped on the Mustangs early.  After CBC scored an unearned run in the top of the first, the Rams came right back with five in the bottom of the frame.  The rally featured five hits including a solo homer from Joseph Lassiter.
 
The Rams traded a run in the bottom of the second for one in the top of the third.  In the bottom of the third, Christian Soberanes knocked in a run and Justin Barnes brought home two more with a single that pushed the score to 9-2.  The following inning, Soberanes added an RBI double and Barnes ripped a two run double as the Rams plated four more runs.
 
The Mustangs got a two-run single from A.J. Allen in the fifth to cap the scoring at 13-4.
 
Tyler King (2-1) picked up the win after allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits while striking out 10 in five innings pitched.  Ezra Wiley took the loss after allowing six runs on six hits in 1.1 innings.
 
Barnes went 3-for-3 with 4 RBI in the win.  Jordan Fuller (2-4), Hunter Robinson (2-2), and Joel Horton (2-4) each had a pair of hits as well as the Rams outhit the Mustangs 14-7.
 
Against Dallas Christian, the Rams got an RBI single from Lassiter in the first and added a second run on the first of seven Crusader errors to take a 2-0 lead.  Brian White led off the second with a double and two more errors led to a three-run rally.  Another error allowed two more runs to score in the third, and the Rams led 7-0.
 
DCC got on the board with a solo home run from Rusty Hensel in the fifth inning.  In the sixth Robinson reached on an error and later scored on a passed ball to cap the scoring at 8-1.
 
Dillon Wilson (3-0) earned the win after allowing one run on three hits in five innings pitched.  Ruben Salinas took the loss after allowing seven runs, two earned, on five hits in four innings of work.
 
Seven different Rams hit safely as Texas Wesleyan outhit Dallas Christian 7-3.
 
The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Stephenville, TX, to take on Tarleton State University.  That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
