FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 3-2 walk-off win against fourth ranked Lubbock Christian University (1-3) on Sunday.

Taylor Jockers led off the bottom of the first for the Rams.  Jockers then stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball giving the Rams an early 1-0 lead.

Derek Vaughn made that run stand up with six strikeouts through four innings.  However, Jason Fisch led off the fifth inning with a home run to right-center.

The Rams threatened again in the fifth, loading the bases after a double from Travis Shuck, a single from Jake Howeth, and an LCU error.  Chaps starter Drew Olson pitched out of the jam with a shallow fly ball and a strikeout.

In the top of the sixth, the Chaps loaded the bases after a walk, a TWU error, and an intentional walk.  Vaughn was also up to the task, inducing a popup and a groundout to end the threat.

In the seventh inning Howeth singled with one out, and Jockers laced a double down the left field line.  Christian Soberanes drew a walk to load the bases, and Alex Padilla drew a two-out walk to push the lead run across the plate.  LCU third baseman Brennyn Smith ended the inning with a diving stab of a shot off the bat of Jordan Fuller.

Nolan Barbee entered the game in the eighth and set down the Chaps in order.  In the ninth, Richard Bohlken drew a one out walk, moved to third on a double from Fisch and scored when the ball was bobbled in the outfield.

Howeth reached base for the third time on the day when he led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk.  Howeth stole second, and the Chaps intentionally walked Jockers to keep a double-play in order.  Soberanes laid down a bunt single to put the winning run ninety feet from the plate with no outs.  After a strikeout, Padilla laid down a squeeze bunt that plated Howeth with the game-winning run.

Vaughn received no decision after allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven in six innings pitched.  Barbee (1-0) earned the win after allowing an unearned run on one hit against three strikeouts in two innings.

Olson also received no decision after scattering six hits across seven innings.  He allowed two runs while striking out nine.

Jockers reached base four times, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.  Howeth finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored on the day.  Padilla went 0-for-2 with a walk and two RBI.

The Rams will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Belton, TX, to take on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.  That game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
