IRVING, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (23-10) suffered a 10-5 loss at the University of Dallas (13-8) on Wednesday.
 
With the win, the Crusaders avenged a 6-3 loss at LaGrave Field erlier this season and earned a split of the season series.
 
The Rams got the scoring started with three singles in the first, capped by an RBI knock from Jake Howeth.  However, the Crusaders, sparked by a leadoff home run from Devin Arnold, plated two in the first, another in the second, and three in the third to jump out to a 6-1 advantage.
 
Andrew Coleman led off the fifth inning with a solo home run to cut into the deficit, but a leadoff walk turned into a run for the Crusaders in the bottom of the inning.
 
Jordan Fuller led off the sixth with a single and scored on a base hit from Coleman.  In the seventh, a two-run double off the bat of Joel Horton made it a two-run game at 7-5.
 
Three consecutive walks to start the bottom of the eighth all came around to score, allowing the Crusaders to run away with a 10-5 win.
 
Luciano Villanueva (1-0) earned the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in which he walked one and struck out two.  Jacob Lyons (4-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on five hits in the first inning.
 
Coleman went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the loss.  Christian Soberanes went 3-for-5, while Howeth (2-fo-4) and Fuller (2-for-5) each added a pair of hits for the Rams.
 
The Rams will return to action in a three-game Red River Athletic Conference Series at Wiley College this weekend.  Friday’s series opener is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start in Marshall, TX.  Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
