CEDAR HILL, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (29-13, 15-7 RRAC) took an 8-5 win at Northwood University (20-13-1, 10-6-1) on Friday.  With the win, the Rams evened the three-game series at 1-1 with Saturday’s rubber-match scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.

Joel Horton staked lefty Dillon Wilson to an early with lead with a pair of two-run doubles, one in the first and one in the third.  In the fourth, Brian White jacked a solo home run to bring the score to 5-0.

The Knights got an unearned run in the fourth and an RBI double from Noel Ibarra in the seventh.

The Rams put the game away in the eighth, taking advantage of a pair of hit batsmen to load the bases with one out.  A single from White, a walk to Jake Howeth, and a groundball from Taylor Jockers pushed three Texas Wesleyan runs across the plate.

Nothwood took advantage of a pair of Texas Wesleyan errors to score three in the bottom of the eighth and pull within three at 8-5, but Patrick Stanley came on in relief to shut the door.

Wilson (6-0) picked up the win after allowing an unearned run on three hits while striking out five in six innings pitched.  Stanley locked down his eighth save of the year with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Nick Harrison (1-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on five hits in five innings pitched.

White recorded three of Texas Wesleyan’s nine hits, going 3-for-4 with a homerun, two RBI, and a run scored.  Horton went 2-for-5 with 4 RBI in the win.
