BELTON, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (6-3) picked up an 11-6 win over the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (0-1) at Red Murff Field on Monday.
The Cru took a 2-0 lead in the third with a RBI double and groundout RBI.
Texas Wesleyan tied the game in the fourth inning starting with a Dusty Harper RBI single to right center. Charles Tabone later scored on a wild pitch to make it a 2-2 game.
Mary-Hardin Baylor took a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning with a two RBI triple down the left field line.
The Rams got a run back in the sixth after a Cru error allowed Tabone to score to bring the score to 4-3.
The Wesleyan bats revved it up in the seventh inning, batting around scoring seven runs on six hits. A couple of wild pitches allowed the first run to score. Henry Yates hit a RBI single down the right field line. Tabone singled down the left field line for a RBI. There was another run that scored on a wild pitch before Joel Rickman drove in two more runs with a double to left center field. Chris Arocha singled through left side for a RBI to make it a 10-4 Ram lead.
Trevor Moon added a run in the eighth inning with a RBI double down the right field line to make it a 11-4 lead.
UMHB scored two runs in the ninth inning, but came up short to take an 11-6 loss in their home opener.
Jacob Lyons (2-0) got the win for the Rams. Lyons tossed three innings, gave up two runs, no walks, no strikeouts.
The Rams will play Tarleton State University tomorrow in Stephenville, TX starting at 3:00 PM.
