STEPHENVILLE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (6-4) took a 6-4 loss to Tarleton State University (3-3-1) at Cecil Ballow Field on Tuesday.
The Rams worked the bases and got the lead in the top of the first.
Charles Tabone scored on a wild pitch, and
Dusty Harper got an RBI on a groundout to the first base to make it 2-0.
Tarleton State got a run in the bottom of the first with a groundout RBI for a 2-1 Ram lead.
The Texans tied the game in the fourth inning to make it a 2-2 game. Tarleton State scored two runs in the fifth with a RBI sacrifice bunt and a RBI single. The Texans also scored two runs in sixth to make it a 6-2 lead.
Wesleyan tried the comeback in the top of the ninth as
Trevor Moon singled and later scored on a wild pitch.
Jake Howeth hit a RBI groundout to make it a 6-4 game, but that would be all the Rams would be able to muster and take the 6-4 loss.
Brian White went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Tabone went 2 for 5 with a run scored.
David Kiriakos went 2 for 5 for the contest.
The Rams will be back in action on Saturday, February 16 to take on the University of Houston-Victoria in a double header starting at noon.
