MARSHALL, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan men's basketball team extended their winning streak to four games, after defeating Wiley College (14-12, 8-10 RRAC), 83-72 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Mo Weathers led the Rams (17-11, 10-10 RRAC) in scoring with 21 points. Weathers also grabbed two rebounds and three assists.
Oscar Griffin posted his fourth double-double of the season in the victory, while leading the team in rebounding and assists. Griffin racked up 17 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists.
It was a tale of two halves, as Wiley led for majority of the first period and the Rams kicking in and responding where it mattered most. Wiley had their largest lead with a 12-point advantage at 32-20 with 4:47 remaining before halftime, and the Rams jumped out on an 11-2 run to close the gap before the half.
Kyle Preston hit back-to-back three-pointers to pull the Rams within five at 32-27. Preston came away with 10 points and one assist.
Wiley was able to hit their first basket in over three minutes after Karlos Gary hit a jumper to push the lead to seven with 1:08 remaining before halftime. Griffin would then sink 1 of 2 from the free-throw line and also drain a bucket from beyond the arc off of an assist from
Jazz Holman to pull the Rams within three at 34-31 going into the half.
Exiting the locker rooms, the Rams took no time taking charge and were able to capture the lead in the opening minutes, after Weathers hit a three to give the Rams their first lead since the 17:53 mark in the first half.
Shortly after, the Rams exploded on a 17-2 run to take full control of the game.
Dallas Jones gave the Rams their first double-digit lead of the game at the 11:20 mark off of an assist from
Chris Angsomwine, to give Texas Wesleyan an 11-point advantage at 60-49. Jones posted 13 points in the win.

Brian Talley under the basket, as Talley made a layup to give the Rams their largest lead of the night, a 22-point advantage, at 73-51 with 7:17 remaining. Walton came away with two assists, five rebounds, and nine points.
"I am really happy with our effort the second half," said head coach Brennen Shingleton. "Our guys won this game and this was a win in which our team stuck together in a tough environment against a tough team. We are making progress as a team, we have to keep plugging along and sticking together."
The Rams will visit LSU-Shreveport (18-5, 13-4 RRAC) on Monday, February 18. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
