Rams Drop Two At TLU

SEGUIN, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (5-3) dropped a pair of games to Texas Lutheran University (5-0) on Saturday. The Bulldogs topped the Rams 10-2 in game one before taking a 6-4 win in game two.
 
Texas Lutheran got things going in the second inning, sending nine batters to the plate, scoring four runs on five hits.
 
The Rams got on the board in the fifth that started with a Ramser Munoz double to start the inning. David Kiriakos singled to right field for a RBI to make it 4-1 game. Henry Yates smashed a RBI double into left center to make it a 4-2 deficit in the top of the fifth.
 
The Bulldogs responded in the fifth with two runs, and in the sixth with four more runs to take the 10-2 game one win.
 
The Rams struck first in game two with a Dusty Harper sacrifice fly to left field deep enough to plate Kiriakos to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Texas Lutheran would respond again in the next half inning batting around and scoring four runs on four hits, all with two outs to take a 4-1 lead.
 
The Rams fought back in the second inning with Yates coming through with another RBI. Jake Davis was hit by a pitch and made his way around to third base. Davis scored on an errant throw from the catcher trying to gun down Yates stealing second, and the Rams cut the lead to 4-3.
 
Wesleyan tied the game in the third at 4-4 with Harper home run blast.
 
The Bulldogs again kept the bats alive, scoring one run in the bottom of the third to take the lead, and another in the sixth to make it a 6-4 lead they would not relinquish.
 
Texas Wesleyan will continue their road trip taking on Mary-Hardin Baylor on Monday, February 11 starting at 4:00 PM
