SILOAM SPRINGS, AR: The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (5-6-3, 3-3-1 SAC) played through thick fog at John Brown University (7-6-2, 3-3-2 SAC) for 85:52 before the game was called in a 1-1 tie.
Brandon Head staked the Rams to an ealry lead when he scored just 3:26 into the contest off an assist from
Brien Avalos. The Eagles led 8-3 in shots in the first half, but the fog and
Arturo Sanchez hid the net from JBU.
The Golden Eagles finally broke through in the 73rd minute when Martin Gonzalez scored on an assist from Collia Smith. The game began in a heavy fog which thickenned throughout the game. Referees finally decided the situation was not playable with 4:08 to play, and the Rams on the offensive.
For the game JBU outshot Texas Wesleyan 26-9. For the second straight game, Sanchez (3-5-3) matched his career-high with nine saves.
"Definitely the first time I've had a game cancelled because of fog," commented head coach
Tyler Powell. "It's a shame because we were pressing to score at the end."
The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they host Oklahoma City University in their final regular season home game. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at Marin Field and will feature Senior Day festivities.

- The Rams are 9-7-1 all-time in SAC play, 1-4-1 vs. John Brown, and 3-10-1 vs. Oklahoma City.
- Three ties in a season matches the school record set in 2012 when the Rams went 10-6-3. The Rams have also tied the University of St. Thomas-Houston (1-1) and Texas College (2-2) this season.
