Rams Win Overtime Thriller on Senior Night

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (6-6-3, 4-3-1 SAC) took a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind win in overtime on Senior Night against Oklahoma City University (7-4-2, 6-1-1 SAC).

The game marked the final regular season home game for six Texas Wesleyan seniors.

The Stars claimed an early lead when Danny Frid headed in a corner kick from Daniel Yeom in the 8th minute.  The Stars seemed content to sit on that lead from there.

Shots were even at just 4-4 in the first half.  The second half got testy as eight cautions were doled out.  In the 69th minute Yohan Shirazi received his second card, and the Rams played on shorthanded.

In the 79th minute, an OCU handball in the box gave the Rams an opening.  Cody Marlow punched in his third goal of the season to knot the game at 1-0.  The Rams ripped off nine shots in the second half, but were unable to score again and the game moved to overtime.

In the extra period, the Rams outshot the Stars 4-0.  In the 97th minute, Brien Avalos took a corner kick that led to a Ross McArthur shot.  McArthur's shot was blocked, but Brandon Head found the ball at his feet and knocked in the game-winner.

For the game, the Rams outshot the Stars 17-11 and led 7-2 in corner kicks.  The Rams were also tagged with six cautions to OCU's three.

Arturo Sanchez (4-5-3) made five saves in the win.  OCU's Vladimir Kalajdzic made two saves in the loss.

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Waxahachie, TX, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University in their regular season finale.
