Bulldogs Unleash 12-Run Inning

Box Score

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (13-12) suffered a 16-0 loss at the hands of Texas Lutheran University (17-7) at LaGrave Field on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs were the first team to get a base runner as far as third base when Keaton Bohrmann led off the fourth with an infield single.  With one out, Bohrman went first to third on Tyler Carollo's base hit and then scored the game's first run on a wild pitch.  The Bulldogs plated three more runs with an RBI single from Zach Jacobs, an RBI walk to Mason Bricoe, and a sac fly from Tony Genusa.

Things unraveled in the fifth.  The inning started with a Texas Wesleyan error followed by four consecutive walks.  When the smoke cleared, Texas Lutheran had sent 17 men to the plate and scored 12 runs on eight hits, four walks, and two errors to lead 16-0.

Christian DeBlanc (1-1) earned the win after tossing five scoreless innings.  He allowed six hits and two walks while striking out three.  Avery Sullivan (1-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings of work.

Quavian Lawson went 2-for-2 with a double in the loss.
