WAXAHACHIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (11-8, 4-1 SAC) took a 7-1 win at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (10-13, 1-5 SAC) to take a Sooner Athletic Conference series two games to one.
Jonathan Bravo led off the game with a triple into the left centerfield gap.
Quavian Lawson followed with a sac fly, and the Rams led 1-0.
Eric Hagstrom doubled and scored for the Lions in the second inning, but the Rams regained the lead with a two-run single from
Dakota Lee in the third.
An RBI double from
Tyler Kamtz in the fifth pushed the score to 4-1. Bravo doubled and scored in the seventh. The Rams capped off the scoring in the ninth with an RBI walk drawn by Kamtz and an RBI groundball from Lee.
Freshman hurler
Alex Lopez (1-2) picked up his first collegiate win. Lopez tossed all nine innings, allowing a run on seven hits and a walk while striking out four. Jarod Pisors (3-3) took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits in seven innings of work.
Bravo went 2-for-4 with a double, triple, and three runs scored in the win.
Jose Martinez added two hits in two at bats, while Lee drove in three runs, and Kamtz knocked in a pair.
The Rams will return to action on Monday, when they travel to Oklahoma City, OK, to take on Mid-America Christian University. That game, scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start, is the finale of a SAC series that was postponed by rain last week.
