Rams Sweep Crusaders

DALLAS, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (23-20) pounded out 25 hits including three home runs while sweeping a doubleheader at Dallas Christian College on Tuesday.  The Rams took a pair of wins at Reverschon Park with scores of 11-8 and 10-2.
 
In game one, the Crusaders got a leadoff single from Tyler Hubbard  and an RBI single from Kale McQuillen to take a 1-0 lead after one inning.
 
In the third inning, Jonathan Bravo, Jake Howeth, and Dakota Lee all singled to load the bases for Jose Martinez who blasted a grand slam.
 
The Crusaders got two runs back in the bottom of the third to close to 4-3, but Texas Wesleyan's bats exploded for seven runs in the sixth.  The Rams sent ten men to the plate and collected seven runs on five hits including a three-run homer from Bravo.
 
DCC battled back with two runs in the sixth.  With two outs in the seventh, the Crusaders plated three runs including a two-run homer from Tim Wallace, but the rally fell short at 11-8.
 
Easton Etter (4-2) got the win after allowing five runs on six hits and four walks in six innings of work.
 
Bravo was 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored at the top of the Texas Wesleyan Lineup.  Martinez knocked in five while going 2-for-4 at the plate.
 
In game two, the Rams jumped ahead with an RBI single from Lee and an RBI double from Martinez in the top of the first.  Joel Rickman led off the second with a triple and scored on a sac fly from Jake Davis.
 
Dallas Christian got on the board in the bottom of the second.  The Crusaders loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batter, but Connor Zamora minimized the damage with a double play and a strikeout.
 
The Rams got an RBI double form Bravo and a two-run double from Lee in the fourth.   DCC turned a leadoff walk into a run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Rams responded with a two-run homer from Ryan Adams in the fifth.
 
A sac fly from Adams in the sixth capped the scoring at 10-2.
 
Zamorra allowed two runs on five walks and no hits in three plus innings of work.  Avery Sullivan (3-3) came out the bullpen and scattered five hits while striking out six in the final four innings to pick up the win.
 
Lee and Adams both drove in three runs in game two.
 
The Rams will return to action on Thursday, when they host Northwood University in the first of a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series.  That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start at LaGrave Field.
