Box Score

RICHARDSON, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (24-23) suffered a 7-6 loss at the hands of UT-Dallas (21-12) on Tuesday.

An RBI single from Brandon George in the first inning gave UTD a quick 1-0 lead, but the Rams responded with four runs in the second.  Manny Sanchez got the Rams on the board with an RBI single.  Jonathan Bravo followed with a two-run single to center.  Then with two outs and runners at first and third, Bravo got in a rundown long enough for Sanchez to score.

An RBI single from Jose Martinez in the third pushed Texas Wesleyan's advantage to 5-1.

The Comets came right back in the bottom of the third, scoring four runs before the Rams could record a single out.  When the smoke cleared six runs had scored on five hits and two errors and UTD led 7-5.

Adam Turpin led off the sixth with a base hit and later scored on a single from Sanchez, but UTD hurler John Quisenberry left the tying run stranded at third base.

The Rams got the tying run to third base in the seventh and ninth innings as well but could not find the equalizer and the Comets escaped with the 7-6 win.

Stephen Rogan (1-0) earned the win after allowing a run on three hits in one inning of relief work.  Brandon Clounch picked up his eighth save of the season, allowing three hits, but no runs in the final two innings.  Alex Lopez (3-6) took the loss allowing seven runs, four earned, on seven hits in three innings of work.

Bravo continued his hot streak at the plate, leading Texas Wesleyan's 17-hit attack with a 3-for-4 performance.  Martinez (3-for-5) and Sanchez (3-for-4) each had three hits as well.

The Rams will return to action when they host Wayland Baptist University in a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series Friday and Saturday.  Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start with Saturday's finale scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch.
