#2 Bison Take Series, 2-1

Box Score
FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball club (18-20, 9-9 SAC) took a 13-0 loss against second ranked Oklahoma Baptist University (32-6, 13-4 SAC) at La Grave Field on Saturday.

It was an abnormally chilly day at the ballpark, with a strong south-eastern wind blowing right in the faces of batters. The temperature never rose above 55 degrees, making for slightly uncomfortable conditions for the Ram faithful if not properly dressed. In fact, the sun did not break through the overcast until after the game was over.

A two RBI single into left center field from Ivan Vela made it a 2-0 ball game in the first inning. The Bison continued with another run before the inning was over, and scored a pair in the second to take a 5-0 advantage.

The Bison batted around in the third inning, scoring five runs on three hits and two errors to extend the lead to 10-0.

Oklahoma Baptist pushed the lead to 13-0 with a three run fourth inning, that would eventually be the final. Kelvin Rivas and Andrew Milner combined for a no-hitter against the Rams, throwing seven shutout innings allowing two walks while striking out eight.

Texas Wesleyan produced plenty hard hits throughout the contest, but today those shots carried enough to reach a glove. The hard hit ground balls were difficult for the Bison to handle, as Oklahoma Baptist committed three fielding errors in the win.

Avery Sullivan and Connor Zamora combined to shutout the Bison in the last three innings. Sullivan sat down three in two innings.

The Rams will travel to Ada, OK to play the second part of a home and home with NCAA Division II opponent East Central University. The Rams and Tigers will square off at 3:00 pm.
