OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (20-3, 7-3 SAC) took care of business at Mid-America Christian University (7-12,1-9 SAC), taking a win in straight sets (26-24, 26-24, 25-8) at the Gaulke Activity Center on Saturday.
Â
The Lady Rams started the match at a good pace, hitting .220 in the first set. The Evangels tried to stifle the Wesleyan attack by spying a few key hitters, but the versatile Lady Rams continued to consistently find the open gaps.
Â
The first two sets were close, but Wesleyan took both with scores of 26-24 to put MACU against the ropes. TXWES came out swinging in the third set, going 18-1-36 as a team in attacking, hitting .472 in the most efficient set of the season. The Lady Rams also held the Evangels to .032 hitting in the final set and cruised to a 25-8 third set win.
Â
The Lady Rams defense held MACU to just .096 hitting for the match, while producing a .291 hitting percentage on the other side of the net.
Carli Owens had an amazing performance, hitting .500 behind 10-0-20 attacking. She also tallied three blocks in the win.
Shelby Stinnett turned in another gaudy stat sheet with 19 kills, hitting .372 to go along with 11 digs. Sash Robinson had another double-double behind 45 assists and 16 digs.
Chalon Anderson led all players with 21 digs.
Alanna Hayhurst kept the defense steady with 17 digs in the match.
Brianna Jaramillo added 11 kills and four blocks.
Â
The Lady Rams are currently sitting in the fourth spot in the conference standings and have some very important matches coming up down the stretch. With No.13 Oklahoma City, Wayland Baptist (RV), and St. Gregory's ahead of TXWES in the standings, the Rams have an opportunity to play all three teams and potentially make some moves in the standings.

Texas Wesleyan will come home for a conference meeting with Southwestern Christian University on Tuesday, October 11 starting at 7:00 pm at the Sid Richardson Center.
