GRAND PRAIRIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (8-6) suffered a 16-5 loss in the finale of a three game series with 9th ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University (8-2) at The Ballpark in Grand Prairie on Saturday. Oklahoma Wesleyan took the series two games to one.
The Rams jumped out early in the first game of the series with a five-run first inning. Oklahoma Wesleyan did the same in the finale with four in the first and three in the second.
A sac fly from Asa Manship in the fourth pushed the score to 8-0, but the Rams did not give in. In the bottom of the fourth
Dylan Measells and
Jonathan Bravo collected back-to-back singles. That brought up
Ryan Adam who lined a ball to right. Adam stretched a single into a double. The throw to second sailed into left field and Adam advanced to third. Then the throw back to the infield got away and Adam came all the way around to score.
The Rams plated two runs in the fifth with doubles from
Alex Gudac,
Erick Quesada, and
Lorenzo Lynch to cut the score all the way down to 8-5.
The Eagles got one run back in the sixth and then exploded for seven runs on six hits and three walks in the seventh.
Hugo Lemus (2-0) earned the win after allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits in 4.1 innings.
Joseph Lyall (0-1) took the loss after surrendering eight runs, six earned, on five hits in 4.0 innings pitched.
The Rams did have 10 hits in the game while allowing OWU 11. Gudac, Lynch, and Bravo each had a pair of hits for Texas Wesleyan.
