PLANO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's tennis team (2-1) topped Texas A&M University-Texarkana (1-6) 7-2 at the Collin County Quad on Friday. On Saturday the Lady Rams took on Collin County Community College and had a very successful performance in doubles action.
In the match against A&M-Texarkana, The Rams swept all three doubles matches. In singles,
Emily Murchland defeated Dija Lynch 6-1, 6-0 on the first line. In No. 2 singles,
Katy Foster blanked Natalie Keylon 6-0, 6-0.
Emily Rodriguez defeated Ashleigh Finley 6-4, 6-2 in No. 4 singles, and
Ashton Willis topped Kaly Douglas 6-1, 6-2 in No. 5 singles.
While team results do not count against a two-year college, individual results do. Collin County took six of the nine matches. Texas Wesleyan took two of three in doubles. Murchland and Foster teamed up to defeat Taryn Swanepool and Alexandra Gilbert 8-3. In No. 3 doubles, the combo of
Maggie Brasher and Willis defeated Kyle Woody and Sierra Chapman 8-3.
Murchland produced the Rams' lone singles victory against Collin County. She took the match from Julianna Hess 6-4, 6-3.
The Lady Rams will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Dallas Duals hosted by Seward County Community College.
