KANSAS CITY, MO - The Heart of America Conference announced their All-Conference Honors Friday evening with six Rams recognized.
Head Coach
Wade Morgan was recognized as the Women's Tennis Coach of the Year for the conference. In his first year at the helm, Morgan led the Rams to arguably their greatest season in program history with a 20-4 record and a semifinal finish in the Heart of America Conference Tournament. The women had some impressive wins under Morgan as they defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan, Friends, and No. 23 ranked Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Paulina Hudson was named as the Women's Tennis Conference Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team. Coming off of a 16-4 record in singles and a 20-3 record in doubles, combing to be an astounding 36-7 record on the year helped Hudson become a powerhouse in the conference. Playing in the number one doubles and number two singles, Hudson was a reliable force to help push the Rams to their 20 win season. Hudson's doubles partner,
Zeynep Ege was also named to the All-Conference First Team as she led the Rams in the number one singles spot and helepd lead the charge to an outstanding season. Ege recorded a 9-8 record in singles with a 20-3 record in doubles to give her a 29-11 record on the year. The Rams had yet another All-Conference selection as
Kaja Brunzlow was named to the second team. Brunzlow helped the Rams from the number two doubles spot and usually the number five singles slot and amassed a 16-3 record in singles and a 13-7 record in doubles, combining to a 29-10 record on the season.
On the Men's Tennis awards, two Rams were recognized as
William Bayliss was recognized as co-newcomer of the year for the conference. Bayliss led the Rams from the number one singles slot as well as a member of the Rams number one doubles team. Bayliss recorded a 9-7 record in singles and a 11-5 record in doubles to help lead the Rams to a 11-10 record on the season.
Alejo Zurmendi rounded out the Rams with a selection to the All-Conference Second Team. As a freshman, Zurmendi played all over the team for singles positions to help the Rams out wherever he was put, he was also paired with Bayliss in the number one doubles position as he recorded a 12-9 singles record and a 11-5 record in doubles, bringing him to a 23-14 record on the year.
