FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (13-18, 4-4 SAC) dropped a pair of games (6-2, 9-4) to NAIA second ranked St. Gregory's University (23-3, 9-1 SAC) at Sycamore Park on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers put a two spot on the board in the top of the first on an Ashli Hafford double that hit the top of the right field fence to gain a 2-0 lead early.

St. Gregory's added three more in the second after a Lady Ram error led to a Jessica Nelson RBI double to make way for Samantha Plott two run home run to center for a 5-0 lead.

The Lady Rams had something brewing in the third inning, after a
Kayla Prachyl lead-off walk, a Cav error on the next play made it a second and third situation with no outs. The Cavs got out of the inning unscathed though, getting three straight pop-ups to keep the game at 5-0.

SGU added one more in the fourth to extend the lead to 6-0.

The Lady Rams earned a couple runs in the bottom of the seventh with a two out rally.
Demi Dotson beat out an infield single to make way for a Prachyl RBI double to left center.
Dani West followed that with a RBI base hit to right center to make it a 6-2 game, but the Cavs held on to seal game one with a 6-2 win.

Prachyl went 2 for 3 with one RBI and a run scored. West went 1 for 3 with one RBI.

In game two, gusty winds out of the Southwest over 21 MPH helped a couple fly balls over the fence to give St. Gregory's a quick 2-0 advantage in the top of the first.

The Cavaliers busted out with a six run rally in the second to extend the lead to 8-0.

Bailey Terry got things started in the bottom of the second, sprinting out an infield single. Terry advanced to third to make way for a
Samantha Vasquez sacrifice RBI to left field to put to Lady Rams on the board at 8-1.

Texas Wesleyan worked the bases in the fifth inning to spur a three run rally. Prachyl and
Lauren Davis picked base hits to put runners in scoring position for a
Shelby Reddington two RBI double to right center field.
Kaley Batchlear knocked an infield single before Vasquez drove another run in with a RBI double to left to cut the lead to 9-4.

The Lady Rams got another run back in the sixth after a
Demi Dotson lead-off infield single set up a
Bailey Terry RBI rocket up the middle to make it a 9-5 game.

Wesleyan got a run back in the seventh on a Prachyl RBI single down the right field line, but the Cavs held on to take an 11-6 win in game two.

Vasquez went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI. Reddington went 2 for 3 with two RBI. Terry went 2 for 3 with one RBI.

The Lady Rams will stay home to take on the University of Science and Arts (OK) in a double header on Friday, April 1 starting at 2:00 pm. Texas Wesleyan softball will then play Mid-America Christian University in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Saturday, April 2 starting at noon.
