FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (14-20, 5-5 SAC) gained an extra innings 4-3 walk-off win over the University of Science & Arts (OK) (18-13, 7-5 SAC) before slipping 7-6 in game two at Sycamore Park on Friday.

Dani West got things started for the Lady Rams in the first inning, setting the tone with an infield home run down the right field line to make it a 1-0 game.

Texas Wesleyan picked up another run in the fifth inning starting with a
Samantha Vasquez single to left field.
Kayla Prachyl followed things up with a RBI fielder's choice play to make it a 2-0 advantage.

The Lady Rams took that lead into the seventh, but the streaking Drovers, who came to Sycamore Park with an eight game winning streak, dinked and dunked their way back into the game. Science and Arts hit four consecutive infield singles to tie the game 2-2.

The Drovers took a 3-2 lead in the eighth on Lady Ram error, but the Lady Rams made a comeback of their own with the game on the line.
Bailey Terry hit a sacrifice bunt to move the tying run to third.
Shelby Reddington hit an infield single, and pinch runner Bailey Sigg swiped second to put the go-ahead run in scoring position. Vasquez laced a two RBI walk-off single down the right field line to win the game 4-3.

Brittany Rosenberry (6-7) did an outstanding job of keeping the red hot Drover bats at bay. She tossed all eight innings, allowing only two earned runs on seven hits, gave up no walks to go along six punch outs.

West went 2 for 4 with one RBI. Vasquez went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI.

The Lady Rams put together a three run, five hit first inning rally to start the second game.
Lauren Davis capped a three hit start with a RBI double to the left-center fence.
Kaley Batchlear and
Hannah Tomme both hit RBI singles with the bases loaded to take a three spot.

The Lady Rams added to the advantage with a run in the second inning. Terry laid into a RBI double off the left-center fence to make a 4-0 contest.

The Drovers picked up a run in the fourth inning after Kelsey Bortvit led off with a base hit to left field. Pinch runner Kinzie Clapp scored after two throwing errors on the same play to bring the score to 4-1.

Wesleyan got that run back in the bottom of the inning. Prachyl picked up a lead-off single and made quick work stealing second. Davis brought the runner home with a sacrifice out to make it 5-1.

The two teams each added runs in the next two innings to bring the score to a 6-2 Wesleyan lead in the seventh. Once again the Drovers made a comeback. After the Lady Rams allowed two consecutive errors that would have sealed the game, USAO posted a five run rally capped by a Shannon Boe three-run home run to left field to take a 7-6 lead. Wesleyan went three up, three down in the in the bottom of the final inning to drop the second game in a hard to swallow 7-6 loss.

Davis went 1 for 3 with two RBI. Tomme went 2 for 3 with one RBI.

The Lady Rams will play in their annual Think Pink Day tomorrow in a double header with Mid-America Christian University tomorrow starting at noon. The Lady Rams are raising money for breast cancer awareness through the Athena Society of Burleson.Â
