FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (20-24, 11-9 SAC) edged in-state rival in a double header with Southwestern Assemblies of God University (5-35, 1-15 SAC) at Sycamore Park on Tuesday. The Lady Rams sneaked by the Lady Lions 1-0 in game one before taking a 2-0 win in game two.
Â
The Lady Rams posted a run in the bottom of the fourth in a fairly defensive dominated game.
Dani West lined a base hit into left-center field and swiped second on the next pitch.
Bailey Terry hit a sacrifice out to second base for a RBI and a 1-0 edge heading to the fifth inning.
Â
Brittany Rosenberry (9-11) recorded her second complete game shutout in the win. She allowed only three hits, no walks, while fanning four. Roseberry now sports a solid 2.96 ERA in 141.2 innings pitched.
Â
West went 2 for 3 with the lone run scored.
Demi Dotson went 1 for 2 for the Rams. Terry went 1 for 1 with one RBI.
Â
They two teams went silent in the run column in the second game, both sets of bats rather anemic for five and a half innings.
Â
Prachyl reached base on an error in the fifth and that was all the Lady Rams needed to spur a short burst of offense. Â Prachyl stole second to set up a Terry RBI double to deep left-center field for a 1-0 edge. Terry would later score on a passed ball and an error on the throw to make it a 2-0 lead that Wesleyan would not relinquish.
Â
Lauren Wernet (4-5) earned the complete game shutout win. She scattered six hits, walked one, while sitting down two.
Â
Corrina Palomino went 2 for 3. Terry went 1 for 2 with one RBI, she is hitting .351 on the season. Prachyl went 1 for 3 and leads the team in batting average hitting .399.
Samantha Vasquez went 1 for 2 in the win and is now second on the team in batting average with .355 on the year.
Â
The Lady Rams travel to Chickasha, OK for a Sooner Conference meeting with the University of Science & Arts on Friday, April 15. The double header is set for a 4:00 pm start. Â
