FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (16-22, 7-7 SAC) dropped two Sooner Athletic Conference games (4-0, 5-0) to NAIA No. 1 Oklahoma City University (42-1, 13-1 SAC) at Sycamore Park on Wednesday.
Â
The top ranked Stars took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after a Ram error led to a Kyndra Holasek home run to right field for an early edge.
Â
The Lady Rams loaded the base in the third inning.
Demi Dotson beat out an infield single to third before
Kayla Prachyl smashed a shot back up the middle.
Dani West reached on first on a bloop single to shallow left with one out, but the Stars were able to get out of the inning as Wesleyan stranded three runs.
Â
The Stars added two more in the sixth on a fielder's choice RBI by Stephanie Koishor before a Ram error allowed a second run to score to make it a 4-0 advantage that would go on to be the final score.
Â
West led Texas Wesleyan going 2 for 3 with a pair of base hits. Prachyl went 1 for 2 in the loss.
Â
Game two proved to be pitcher's duel as
Brittany Rosenberry stayed red hot on the mound, working patiently and effectively through the number one lineup in the NAIA limiting the Stars to just one run through six innings.
Â
TWU had their chances despite Abby Meader allowing just three hits. West poked a single into shallow left field in the sixth inning, stole second and ended up on third by way of a passed ball with one away. The Stars played solid defense though, holding the score a 1-0.
Â
The Stars opened up the bats in the seventh with a five hit, four run rally to extend the lead to 5-0.
Â
Mackenzie Kirkpatrick drove a base knock through the left side in the bottom of the seventh, but that would be it as the top ranked team in the land took a 5-0 game two win.
Â
Bailey Terry went 1 for 2. Praychl went 1 for 2. West and Kirkpatrick went 1 for 3 for the Lady Rams
Â
The Lady Rams will travel to Shawnee, OK for a conference double header with NAIA 3rd ranked Saint Gregory's University on Friday, April 8. Game one set for a 12:00 pm first pitch.Â
