FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (2-3) powered to a 79-60 win over Texas College (0-6) at the Sid Richardson Center on Monday.

The Lady Rams were no doubt happy to be playing under their own roof after starting the season with six straight on the road. TXWES never trailed in the contest, as the Steers were out-matched from tip-off.

TXWES fought to get anything going from beyond the arc in this one, as the usually solid core of three-point specialists went 23 percent in that category. Despite the struggles from the three-point line, the Lady Rams out scored their opponent 36-24 in the paint and 30-6 in points off turnover.

The Steers stuck around in the first quarter, but the Lady Rams began to widen the margin with 14-4 run, capped on an
Evie Whorley fast break layup for a 12 point lead. TXWES took a 41-27 lead at the break, and led by as many as 20 in the third quarter. The Lady Rams maintained that double digit lead to the final buzzer.

Texas Wesleyan established an early lead with great ball movement and making the Lady Steers pay for turning the ball over. The Rams converted all nine turnovers committed by Texas College into 18 points in the first half.

Lorian Benjamin was incredibly efficient in the win. The junior from Rowlett, TX posted a career highs with 10 assists and six rebounds, she also added four points and three steals, and she did this all in just nine minutes on the court.

Gleason notched a career high 10 boards, adding 14 points for the first double-double performance of her career.

Falesha Fuller led the team with 16 points.
Tomi Sanchez tallied 14 points and eight rebounds in the win.

The Lady Rams will celebrate Thanksgiving and be back on the court on Sunday, November 26, taking on the University of St. Thomas-Houston at the Sid Richardson Center. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
