FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (24-3, 13-3 SAC) celebrated Senior Day in the final home game of the regular season with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-23) win over Mid-America Christian University (10-15, 6-10 SAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.

The upset minded Evangels started the match with a 7-2 run, getting kills from four different players. MACU held on to the lead midway through the first set, but the Rams defended home court, riding a 7-2 streak to a 13-12 lead after a
Tierra Coverson, Jaramillo block. The Evagels did not go away though, tying to set five more times before TXWES outscored their opponent 8-2 the rest of the way to grab the set one win.

MACU picked up another early lead in the second set, holding a 6-5 edge before the Rams made a monster 9-0 run that featured three
Dana Lohrke kills for a 14-6 advantage. The Evagels were overwhelmed as TXWES pushed the lead to 10 on a Coverson kill before Jaramillo put the second set to bed on a lightning strike type kill.

Mid-America Christian established another early lead in the third set, but this time was determined to keep it. The Evangels posted a 13-9 lead after a Melissa Hoppal kill, and maintained the lead deep into the set. MACU led 19-16 on a Laurel Church service ace before the Rams charged back. Texas Wesleyan ripped off a 5-0 run to take the lead and went shot for shot until Stinnett put a bow on senior day with a gym-rattling kill for the straight set win.

The Evangels hit an impressive .324 in the first set, the only trouble was TXWES hit a white hot .533. The Rams would go on to hit .291 for the match, while MACU finished at .195.

Stinnett now has 45 career double-doubles in an 11 kill, 15 dig night. She added a pair of aces and hit .370. Lohrke hit .643 with 10 kills.
Sasha Robinson hit .400 (7-1-27) with 24 assists and nine digs. Coverson added seven kills and three blocks in the win.

The Texas Wesleyan will host Southwestern Christian in quarter-final action of the 2017 SAC Tournament. The Rams and Eagles will square off on Tuesday, November 7 at the Sid Richardson Center. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start. Â Â
