Rams Ride 11-0 Lead to 11-8 win at A&M-Texarkana

TEXARKANA, TX:  The 13th ranked Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (33-11) jumped ahead 11-0 and rode that margin to an 11-8 win at Texas A&M-Texarkana (27-20) on Wednesday.

The Rams belted five home runs in the first six innings to run the score to 11-0.

Luis Roman started the fireworks with a three-run bomb in the first inning.  Two batters later, Kiki Menendez added a solo shot.

Blake Seaton homered in the second inning to make it 5-0.  In the fifth, Roman's second home run of the day (13th of the season) along with an RBI double from Menendez made it 8-0.  The Rams added three more runs in the sixth with an RBI double from Caden Williams and a pinch-hit two-run homer from Tanner McMahan.

The Eagles put two on the board in the seventh and then made things interesting with four runs in the eighth, but the game proved to be well out of reach as the Rams held on by a final score of 11-8.

The Rams racked up 14 hits on the day.  Roman finished at 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI.  Menenedez was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run.  McMahon was 2-for-2 with a homer, and Caden Williams was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles.

Evan Rogers (7-2) notched the win after shutting the Eagles out for six innings.  He allowed just three hits while walking none and striking out five.

The Rams return to action with a Sooner Athletic Conference series against Southwestern Assemblies of God University Friday and Saturday.  Friday's opener is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start at SAGU (Waxahachie), while Saturday's doubleheader with start at 1:00 p.m. at Sycamore Park (Fort Worth).
