The Sooner Athletic Conference has announced 25 student-athletes have earned their spot on the 2017 All-Academic Cross-Country teams as presented by Cypress Risk Management.
Melissa Gonzalez and
Jonathan Swiatocha represent the Rams who made the list.
Gonzalez, a sophomore exercise science major from Waco, TX, is fresh off a team-leading performance at the NAIA National Championships. She finished the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site 5k course in 19:32, good for 158th out of 338 runners.
Swiatocha, a junior mass communication major from Keller, TX, also ran at nationals this season. He placed 60th amongst 328 runners in the 8k course.
"I'm very proud," commented head coach Nat Amare, "they both understand what it means to be a student-athlete, managing their academics and running at such a high level."
To be eligible for the SAC Academic All-Conference team, students must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA during the previous two semesters and are regulars (letter winners) on their respective team.
