RANGER, TX - Texas Wesleyan Women's Cross Country ran at the Ranger Collegiate Cross Country Invitational last Friday, led by
Melissa Gonzalez who stole the show and finished first among 31 runners. It was her first, first-place finish of her collegiate career. She became the fifth Lady Ram in program history to win a race.
The junior won with a time of 19:37.74, four seconds ahead of Angelo State's Jacylyn Crenwelge (19:41.67). Angelo State, Ranger, Texas A&M-Kingsville, North Central Texas College and the Lady Rams participated in the 5K. Angelo State topped Ranger by 3:36. It was a first-place finish for a Lady Ram since nearly one year ago - October 13, 2017 (
Ray Vidales - 19:39.20 at the Southwestern Invitational in Georgetown, Texas).
For Texas Wesleyan, Rianna Vidales placed eighth (20:47.06),
Chloe Riley ran the 13th best time (21:40.96) and
Griselda Jasso cracked the top 20 with a 19th-place finish (22:11.28). Overall, the team finished fourth.
