Lady Rams End Season With 79-59 Loss To No. 7 Stars

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (8-20, 6-14 SAC) finished the season with a 79-59 loss to No. 7 Oklahoma City University (25-5, 17-3 SAC) at Abe Lemons Arena on Sunday.
 
The Lady Rams had a cold first quarter that allowed the Stars to establish a 19-3 lead, setting up an uphill battle the rest of the way. OCU shot 47 percent from the field, 50 percent from behind the arc, and went 17-17 from the charity stripe.
 
Texas Wesleyan shot 58 percent from the field in the fourth quarter, scoring 28 points. The Lady Rams lit up the net with a 12-0 rally that included five points from Karah Sicurella. Nicole Gleason dropped in her third triple of the game to cut the lead to 20, before Sicurella did the same before the final buzzer.
 
Evie Whorley finished the game with five points and six rebounds, and makes an arguable case for Freshman of the Year. The Kennedale High School product shot 48 percent from the field this season, averaging 10.68 points per game. She also averaged 6.18 rebounds per game, 1.61 assists per game, and 1.14 steals per game. She posted a season high 25 points against Wayland Baptist and season high 15 rebounds and five assists just two days ago in a win over Central Christian.
 
Sicurella led the way with 18 points. Tomi Sanchez went 4 for 9 from the field for 12 points
 
TXWES ends the season in 11th place in conference standings and out of contention for the SAC tournament.
