Lady Rams Fall At OCU

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (18-10, 4-2 SAC) dropped two a doubleheader to No. 7 Oklahoma City University (22-5, 11-1 SAC) at Ann Lacy Stadium on Friday.
 
In game one, the Stars posted a four run, four hit first inning and used the lead to outpace the Lady Rams the rest of the ballgame.
 
OCU added three more runs before the TXWES got on the board in the sixth. After 2017 SAC Pitcher of the Year, Georgia Wall (10-3), exited the game, the Lady Rams stole a run from All-American Abby Meador.
 
Kayla Prachyl laced a base hit into left field before Jenna Rhoades advanced the runner on sacrifice bunt. Bailey Terry and Taylor Sutton both worked walks before Lauren Wernet fired a shot back up the middle for the score.
 
The Stars got the last four outs to take a 7-1 game one win. Wernet (7-5) suffered the loss on the mound, but stayed hot at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a RBI.
 
In game two, Oklahoma City subdued the Ram bats in five inning game. The Stars took three scored in the each of the first two innings before knocking in two in the fifth for the run-rule win.
 
Jordan Shores (6-1) got the no-hitter win for the Stars. Makenna Aycock (5-4) suffered the loss.
 
The Lady Rams will make the short drive to Bethany, OK to take on Southwestern Christian University tomorrow, March 24. The doubleheader is scheduled for a noon start.
 
Ramblings
 
- Prior to game two, Lauren Wernet was 12 of her last 17 (.706) during a five game stretch.
 
- The Stars have won the last seven games vs. the Lady Rams.
