TEXARKANA, TX: The Texas Wesleyan Tennies team split a dual match with Texas A&M Texarkana at Texas High School on Friday. The Lady Rams (6-4) defeated the Lady Eagles (9-9) 5-3, while the Rams (2-7) suffered a 5-0 loss against The Eagles (16-5).
The women's match was a battle of regionally ranked squads with the Lady Rams ranked 2nd and the Eagles rated 3rd. The Lady Rams grabbed a 2-1 over the Eagles in the doubles matches. Texarkana fought back with a hard fought 8-6 win by Stevie Ybarra in No. 2 singles, but the Lady Rams ultimately won the match with wins in No. 3, 4 and 6 singles.
Mae Covacevich, Asthon Willis, and Laura Gruden all had commanding performances in their singles match to secure the match by a final score of 5-3.
In the men's match, the Eagles, rated No. 1 in the region and receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll, swept the Rams in the doubles matches, including an 8-4 win on the No. 1 line, to take a 3-0 lead. The Eagle also had a dominant performance over the Rams in the singles matches, with an 8-4 win on the No. 1 line and 8-0 on the No. 3 line. The remaining singles matches were unfinished.

Adam White, and
Lane Graham and
Ryan Watterson competed during the doubles matches as well as in the single matches.
The Rams return to action tomorrow taking on Southwestern Christian University at North Ridge Country Club at 9:00am. Later in the day the Rams will travel back to Texas High School to face John Brown University at 2:00pm.
