Texas Wesleyan Spirit brings home rankings from NCA & NDA Varsity Collegiate National Championship

DAYTONA, Fla. – The Texas Wesleyan University Cheer and Dance teams traveled to Daytona Beach over the weekend to compete in the largest collegiate cheer and dance Championship in the nation in the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships.

Schools from all over the country compete over 3 days through preliminary rounds to obtain a spot in the finals and hopefully place into a ranking in their Division.

The TXWES Cheerleaders took 15 members and competed in the intermediate small coed Division 3 category.  With zero deductions and a stand out performance, the team advanced to the final round.  They were awarded 6th place in the Nation for Division 3.

"We are very excited to have competed with some of the top programs in country and held it down for our Ramily," said head cheer coach Terrance Davis

The TXWES Gold Line took 12 members and competed in the Division 3 Jazz and Hip Hop categories. The Hip Hop performance advanced to the final round and placed 6th in the nation.

"For our first time to compete at this level, we are very proud of how far the Dancers advanced! They saw the level of intensity and matched it. It was great representation for the University as well," commented head dance coach Emily Snow.

This was the first Varsity collegiate competition experience for all members of the TXWES Spirit teams. The coaches and the entire Texas Wesleyan Athletics Department are extremely proud of the work and dedication demonstrated by our student-athletes.

Both teams will host tryouts on Saturday, April 13th.  Scholarships are available.  For more information click here.
