MARSHALL, Missouri — The Texas Wesleyan Men's Wrestling team competed against Baker (Kan.), Cumberland (Tenn.) and Grand View (Iowa) on Tuesday at the Winter Clash Duals hosted by Missouri Valley.
TXWES (RV) clashed with (RV) Baker in the first dual of the day falling to the Wildcats 32-16. In the 133-lb weight class, No. 7
Kobe Nelms pinned his opponent for six points, and in the 165-lb class, No. 8
Dracius McKee dominated in a 20-9 major decision.
Next, the Rams took on two nationally ranked teams in No. 10 Cumberland and No. 1 Grand View. Against Cumberland, the team lost 27-15 with Nelms getting his second win of the day in a 5-3 decision. At 157-lbs,
Jason Chambers also bested his opponent in in a 3-2 decision, and
Deandre Rucker rounded out TXWES individual wins in the 197-lb class by a 12-5 decision.
Grand View showed why they top the NAIA leader board by shutting out TXWES 49-0.
The Rams return to the mat on Saturday for the Concordia Bulldog Duals in Nebraska.
