KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the third edition of the weekly rankings, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics recognizes three student-athletes who were instrumental in their team's success on the field. Anthony Bobb scored an 89 yard touchdown off a punt to secure Special Teams Player of the Week.
Bobb, a freshman history major from Houston, Texas, broke loose on an 89-yard punt return for a touchdown to make it a 35-14 game in the third quarter in a game-breaker for the Rams special teams unit. He totaled 86 yards of kick returns - with a long of 38 - and 114 punt return yards.
The Rams improved to 2-0 after a 49-20 throttling Oklahoma Panhandle State in Goodwell, Okla. The team will stay on the road for a meeting with Ottawa - Arizona (2-0). That contest set for an 8 p.m. (CST) start in Surprise.
Senior Robert Carter of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) recorded a program high three interceptions while also posting a team high eight tackles in their top-four win over Keiser (Fla.) and was named Defensive Player of the Week. Matt Struck made his first start for Southern Oregon and totaled six touchdowns on his way to being named Offensive Player of the Week.
Players of the week are evaluated on their performance during the week prior to the announcement. Each player is selected out of a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institution's award winners.
