ARLINGTON, Texas – The men's and women's tennis teams each picked up a win against NCAA DII Concordia University Texas at Arlington Tennis Center on Saturday. The Lady Rams (2-1) gutted out a 4-3 win, while the Rams (2-0) topped the Tornadoes, 5-2
On the women's side, the #1 doubles pair of
Aurora Novati and
Thamara Pinto won their match 6-4, but the Tornadoes took doubles 2 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead heading into the singles match-ups.
Novati took care of business in #1 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Isabella Wiik, followed by Pinto,
Kara Antonio, and
Cecilia Salazar to lift the Lady Rams to victory. Salazar won a 7-6(3), 7-5 thiller holding off Natalia Goodman in the deciding match.
On the men's side, the Rams went 2-1 in doubles to secure a 1-0 lead before singles play. The #1 doubles pairing of
Mathieu Vinet and
Arthur Voiseux needed a tiebreak match to win 7-6 (7-5) over Joshua Bode and Adrian Munguia, while Lucas Freire and Jose Merino who by the same score in #3 doubles.
The Rams won four of the six singles matches to secure the win. In #2 singles,
Thibault Gasser earned a comeback win Munguia while Freire won #5 singles 6-2, 7-6(1). Voiseux topped Evan Pena 6-2, 6-3 in #4 singles.
