Box Score FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (7-6) defeated Texas A&M Texarkana (6-7) 8-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Sycamore park.

The Rams offense produced 12 hits, 8 runs, and 5 RBI's on the afternoon. TXWES jump-started the bats in the second inning, scoring 4 runs. Hayden Hutchins, and Joseph Barfield scored the first two runs of the game on a bunt by Chaesten Chon. Tomas Sanchez grounded out to second base, but picked up an RBI as JD Padgett crossed home-plate to extend the Rams lead to 3-0. Chon scored the fourth and final run of the inning after Marcos Sanchez reached on an error. After two innings of play, TXWES led 4-0.

After giving up two runs in the fifth inning, the Rams responded by scoring two runs in the 7th inning on a fielder's choice by Trey Erwin and a wild pitch that scored Manny Luna to make the score 6-2. TXWES extended the lead to 7-2 in the eighth inning after a triple by JD Padgett scored Hayden Hutchins. Chaesten Chon recorded his second RBI of the afternoon on a ground-out to shortstop that scored Padgett to extend the lead to 8-2.

Junior Brayden McAlister picked up his first win of the season on the mound. He pitched three innings, recorded three strikeouts, allowed three hits, and did not give up an earned run. Sophomore Morgan McCloud pitched three innings in relief, giving up two runs on four hits, and recorded two strikeouts.

Sophomore Ian Landreneau recorded two strikeouts in two innings of work on the mound. He also did not give up an earned run. Matt Espinosa finished the game on the mound with a clean inning of work.

TXWES had three players record three hits on the afternoon. Tomas Sanchez recorded three hits in five at-bats, Hayden Hutchins recorded three hits in four at-bats, and JD Padgett recorded three hits in three at-bats.

The Rams move to 6-4 all-time against Texas A&M Texarkana. TXWES will hit the road to New Orleans for a four game series against Loyola University New Orleans on Saturday Feb. 19 and Sunday Feb. 20 at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
