OKLAHOMA CITY-- The Sooner Athletic Conference has announced its 2022 Women's Basketball All-Conference team. Three members of the Texas Wesleyan women's basketball team were among those honored including SAC Newcomer of the Year
Kertisa Amos and SAC Freshman of the Year
Zarria Carter. In her first year as head coach,
Brenita Jackson was named John Hudson Coach of the Year in the SAC.
Makayla Coy was an honorable mention selection.
Amos a junior guard out of Burleson, Texas was named to the first team and to the all-defensive team. Amos started 24 games this season and averaged 16,9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game on 45.7 percent shooting from the field. Amos scored a career-high 33 points against Southwestern Christian.
Carter a Freshman center out of Mansfield, Texas was named to the third-team and to the all-freshman team. The Freshman of the Year started 26 games this season and averaged 16.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game on 52 percent shooting from the field. Carter racked up 12 double-doubles this season which was a team high.
Junior
Makayla Coy was an honorable mention selection. Coy started 26 games this season and averaged 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game on 42.4 percent shooting from the field. Coy scored a season-high 21 points against Southwestern Christian.
Head coach,
Brenita Jackson led the Lady Rams to a 23-5 regular season record which is the most wins in a season in the program since the 2011-2012 team. Jackson was named John Hudson Coach of the Year in her first season as head coach of the Lady Rams. TXWES is currently in the quarterfinal round of the SAC Tournament. The Lady Rams will take on JBU on Friday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center.
All three players made important contributions to the Lady Rams, helping TXWES to a 23-5 regular Season record.Â
