Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MCPHERSON, KS-- The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (14-9, 3-2 SAC) swept a DH against Central Christian College (6-14, 0-2 SAC) on Saturday afternoon in McPherson, Kansas. TXWES dominated with an 21-4 victory in game 1. The Rams put up 4 runs in the first inning and led 9-4 after two. Then, dominant pitching took over to shut down the Tigers for the remainder of the game.

Tomas Sanchez led off the game with a homerun in the first inning. After a single and a walk by Joseph Barfield and Hayden Hutchins, Jake Ervin homered over the center-field fence on an 0-1 pitch to give the Rams a 4-0 lead.

Central Christian College followed in the bottom of the first with a leadoff single by Sam Chavez and then a double by Koki Matsuda. Both eventually scored. After singling, Mason Seay scored on a double by Julius Sifuentes. Finally, Tristen Gilbert scored the fourth run of the inning.

The Rams went on a power surge the rest of the way, totaling 7 homeruns for game 1 and scoring 21 runs. Trey Erwin, Tomas Sanchez, Jake Ervin, Marcos Sanchez, Jose Sosa, Joseph Barfield, and Greyson Barrett all homered in the big SAC win. The Rams hit seven home-runs on Sunday, which is the second most in a single game in program history. The record is held by the 1999 team that hit 8 home-runs in a game against incarnate Word.

TXWES pitcher David Theriot struck out two batters in the first inning. Cory Didier pitched a scoreless final 6 innings, striking out 10 batters while only walking 2.

In game 2, TXWES scored 2 runs in the top of the first inning. Tomas Sanchez doubled to deep right center to open the game and Joesph Barfield followed with a single to shallow left field. After Sanchez scored on an error, Joseph Barfield eventually scored on a Jake Ervin double down the right field line to give the Rams a 2-0 lead.

Justin Ward pitched four innings picking up the win and striking out 4 batters. Garrett Bodine and Brayden McAlister finished off the last 3 innings of the game combining for 6 strikeouts while giving up no runs.  

TXWES racked up 9 extra base hits with 6 doubles and 3 more home-runs in game 2, leading the rams to an 18-4 win and a DH sweep of Central Christian College. Homering in game 2 for the Rams were Jake Ervin, Hayden Hutchins, and Joseph Barfield. TXWES will take on Central Christian College in game three of the series Monday, March 14 at noon.
