Box Score AUSTIN, TX-- The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (15-10) scored nine runs in the ninth inning to defeat Huston Tillotson (7-14) 13-7 on Wednesday afternoon at Downs Field.
TXWES started the scoring in the third inning with
Joseph Barfield scoring on a walk by
Jake Ervin. In the next at-bat Kevin Santiago hit a single to score
Hayden Hutchins and
Jose Sosa to extend the Rams lead to 3-0.
Chaesten Chon batted in
Jake Ervin on a Fielder's Choice to cap off a four run third inning.
HTU responded in the bottom of the third inning with six runs to take a 6-4 lead. There were 10 runs scored between the two teams in the inning. After an offensive explosion by both teams in the first three innings, there was only one run scored in the next five innings due to solid pitching on the mound.
Heading into the top of the ninth inning, Huston Tillotson led 7-4. TXWES started its nine run inning with a single by Kevin Santiago to score
Jake Ervin and then a double by
Tomas Sanchez to score Kevin Santiago and
Greyson Barrett to cut the deficit to one run.
Joseph Barfield hit a single to score
Chaesten Chon to tie the game at 7.
Jose Sosa propelled TXWES to an 8-7 lead after hitting a single to score

Greyson Barrett followed with with a single to score
Joseph Barfield to extend the lead to 9-7. Kevin Santiago capped off the inning with a three run triple to give the Rams a 13-7 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.
David Theriot finished the game off with a clean inning to clinch the win.
Garrett Bodine pitched two innings, striking out four batters, and did not allow a run.
David Theriot secured the win to move to 4-2 on the season as he struck out four batters in three innings.
Tomas Sanchez recorded three hits and 2 RBI's in six at-bats,
Joseph Barfield recorded two hits and 1 RBI in four at-bats. Barfield also earned two walks.
Jose Sosa went 3 for 6 at the plate with 1 RBI. Kevin Santiago had an outstanding performance at the plate recording 6 RBI's and three hits in six at-bats.
TXWES will face OPSU in a three game SAC series on Friday, March 18 with first pitch set for 12 and 2:30 p.m. and on Saturday, March 19 with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
