Box Score 2 FORT WORTH-- The Texas Wesleyan baseball team (15-12, 3-5 SAC) lost both games of a DH on Friday afternoon at Sycamore Park against Oklahoma Panhandle State. The Rams lost both games 8-7.
In game 1,
Tomas Sanchez scored on an error in the bottom of the first inning to give the Rams a 1-0 lead after one inning of play. OPSU answered with a two run double by Luis Dermas to take a 2-1 lead in the third inning. In the bottom half of the inning,
Jake Ervin blasted a two-run home-run over the left field wall to give TXWES a 3-2 lead heading into the fourth inning.Â
OPSU scored 5 runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead heading into the bottom half of the inning. The Aggies scored an insurance run to make the score 8-3 after 5 innings of play. In the sixth inning,
Greyson Barrett hit a home-run and
Trey Erwin smashed a triple to score
Marcos Sanchez to make the score 8-5 heading into the seventh inning.Â
After a clean inning in the top half of the final inning, TXWES had one more chance to complete a come-back.
Hayden Hutchins and
Jake Ervin hit consecutive home-runs to cut the deficit to one run. The Rams comeback fell short as OPSU held on to win 8-7.
In game 2, OPSU started the scoring with a triple by Payton Brown to make the score 1-0. In the fifth inning the Aggies exploded for 5 runs to take a 6-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. Aiden Kenny drove in
Matt Espinosa to put the Rams on the scoreboard.
Carson Cheaney flied out to right field to score
Hayden Hutchins to make the score 6-2.Â
In the fifth inning, Kenny singled up the middle to score Padgett and Santiago to cut the Aggies lead to 2 runs. TXWES fought back with two runs of its own as
Manny Luna ripped a single up the middle and
Chaesten Chon scored on an error.

In the final inning, TXWES had the tying run on second with 2 outs, but was not able to capitalize as the Aggies held on to win 8-7. The Rams fought hard in each game as it rallied from behind to almost win both games.
TXWES will finish the three-game series with OPSU on Saturday, March 19 at 12 p.m.Â
