Box Score The Texas Wesleyan Rams (8-2) ended their weekend at the Cajun Collision 2-2 after a victory Sunday over Louisiana Christian University Wildcats (5-3) by a 4-1.
It was validation for the Rams after scoring only one run in their first two games to come away with another strong offensive showing.
The Wildcats would score the first run of the game on an error at the bottom of the first inning. They held a 1-0 lead until the top of the third inning when
Carson Cheaney led off for the Rams advanced to first after being hit by a pitch.
Jonathan Pena came in to pinch run for Cheaney and advanced to second after a
Chaesten Chon bunt to the mound.
Tomas Sanchez recorded an RBI on a ground out to second base when Pena scored for the Rams first run of the game.
Brandon Rincones then singled to center field, earning an RBI when Chon crossed the plate.
Sanchez hit the game's only homerun to add to the Rams total at the top of the fifth inning, and
JD Padgett doubled down the infield line earning an RBI in the sixth inning as
Greyson Barrett scored the Rams final run of the game.
Morgan McCloud was solid on the mound and earned his third win of the season. McCloud faced 20 batters, throwing 49 strikes in the game's first five innings.
David Theriot relieved McCloud for the last two innings and was credited with his first save of the season.
The Rams head back to Fort Worth on Sunday to prepare for next weekend's series of doubleheaders at home.
