VB: Rams Return to Win Column with Win in Kansas

McPHERSON — Hannah Rubis had eight kills and Texas Wesleyan University (21-5, 18-1 SAC) controlled the match and swept Central Christian College (4-21, 2-17) 3-0 on Friday.

TXWES won 25-8, 25-17, 25-13, extending its win streak while holding the Tigers to a minus-.010 hitting percentage with 22 errors.

The Rams jumped out early in the first set, reeling off seven straight points behind Sydney Alexander's serving and kills from Rubis and Loes Peijnenburg to lead 7-2. Texas Wesleyan never trailed, closing with a 7-1 run capped by blocks involving Alexander and Peijnenburg for a 25-8 win.

In the second set, the Rams overcame an early 9-5 deficit, tying at 10-10 on Peijnenburg's kill before pulling away. Rubis sparked a rally with back-to-back kills, and blocks by Lyric Biggiers and Rubis helped secure a 25-17 victory despite eight attack errors.

Texas Wesleyan cruised in the third, building a 7-1 lead on Biggiers' service ace and kills. The Rams hit .333 in the set, with Madison Grekstas adding three kills late to seal the 25-13 clincher.

Biggiers finished with seven kills and four blocks, Peijnenburg had five kills and three blocks, and Alexander contributed four kills, four blocks and two aces. Ruby Rumohr led with 14 assists, and Emily Lewis had 17 digs.

Tasia Harris paced Central Christian with seven kills.

The Rams will return to action tomorrow on the road against Langston University with the match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
