CRETE— Texas Wesleyan University claimed two individual championships Saturday as No. 2 Samantha Barragan (138 pounds) and No. 18 Carla Campos (207) both went unbeaten to win titles at the Doane Open.
Barragan dominated with a 5-0 record, recording four pins and a technical fall in the final. She pinned three nationally ranked opponents: No. 10 Kaylee Lester (Ottawa) in the opening round, No. 17 Cristelle Oliver (Providence) in the semifinals and capped the day with a tech fall over No. 4 Angelina De La Garza (Missouri Valley) in the championship match.
Campos went 4-0 to claim the 207-pound crown in a bracket loaded with six top-20 wrestlers. She defeated a Sooner Athletic Conference rival from Wayland Baptist in the first round, beat No. 19 Madeline Stone (Baker) in the second round, won 12-4 over Westcliff in the semifinals and took the final to finish perfect on the day.
No. 8 Elizabeth Duvall (131) placed second with a 3-1 mark, rallying from a 9-2 deficit for a fall in her first match before falling to reigning NAIA national champion Abigale Adekoye (Dickinson State) in the final.
No. 14 Vanessa De La Cruz (117) finished 2-2 on the day.
Jaylah Davenport (138) went 1-2 in her 2025-26 debut.
Nataleigh Zapata (103) and Violet De La Cruz (131) each went 0-2. Violet De La Cruz dropped a close, back-and-forth match via fall to No. 17 Emma High (York).
The Rams return to action at National Duals in Cedar Rapids, IA on January 9 and 10, 2026.
