KANSAS CITY — Texas Wesleyan University's women's tennis team made a strong showing at the first-ever Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament this weekend, advancing to the semifinals before narrowly falling to Missouri Baptist University at the Plaza Tennis Center.

Competing as the No. 3 seed, the Lady Rams opened play on Friday morning with a dominant 4-0 victory over No. 6 Baker University. Texas Wesleyan quickly secured the doubles point before clinching three singles matches to complete the sweep and move on to the semifinal round.

In the semifinals later that afternoon, Texas Wesleyan faced No. 2 seed Missouri Baptist in a tightly contested matchup. The Rams battled throughout, pushing the match to the final singles court, but ultimately fell 4-3. Despite the loss, the match showcased the team's resilience and ability to compete at a high level against top conference opponents.

William Woods University, the No. 1 seed, also advanced through the bracket with a 4-0 win over Missouri Valley, setting up a championship showdown with Missouri Baptist on Saturday morning.

The tournament winner will receive an automatic berth to the 2025 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship, scheduled for May 13-17 in Mobile, Ala.
