OKLAHOMA CITY — The Texas Wesleyan Rams A team delivered a solid performance at the UC Ferguson Invitational, finishing fifth with a two-round total of 9-under-par at Lincoln Park Golf Club. Despite the third round being canceled, the Rams A squad showcased their potential in the NAIA tournament hosted by Oklahoma City.
Leading the Texas Wesleyan A team, Brady Meek posted a standout 7-under 137 (70-67) to finish sixth individually. Haroon Aslam contributed a 2-under 142 (70-71), tying for 17th, while Jose Manuel Sanchez added an even-par 144 (74-70), tying for 28th. Yevgeniy Ryu finished at 1-over 145 (72-73), and Jesper Brinchmann-Hansen rounded out the A team with a 3-over 147 (73-74).
The Texas Wesleyan B team placed 11th with a total of 28-over-par. Kolbe Fielder led the B squad with a 1-over 145 (73-72), tying for 32nd individually. T.J. Gigowski posted a 7-over 151 (78-67), while Matisse Lassequin finished at 10-over 154 (75-79). Graham Moses and Goncalo Correia closed with 14-over 158 (76-82) and 16-over 160 (76-84), respectively.
Oklahoma City claimed the team title at 22-under, followed by MidAmerica Nazarene A at 20-under and USAO at 18-under. Hastings and Northwestern (IA) rounded out the top five at 16-under and 5-under, respectively. Individually, USAO's Jaxen Brewer took the title at 12-under, with MidAmerica Nazarene's Alexian Rouault one stroke back at 11-under.
The golf team will return to action Sept. 8-9 when it hosts the Texas Intercollegiate at Hawks Creek Golf Course in Fort Worth. The two-day tournament will feature a competitive field as the Rams look to defend their home course.
