Le Mars – Texas Wesleyan University's golf team delivered a standout performance at the Northwest Iowa National Invitational Tournament, held September 15-16, 2025, at Willow Creek Golf Course.
The Rams finished in fourth place with a total score of 17-under-par, showcasing resilience with a remarkable comeback after a challenging first round.
Leading the charge for Texas Wesleyan was sophomore Kolbe Fielder, who claimed the individual title with a blistering 16-under-par total. Fielder's steady play included rounds of 68 (-4), 65 (-7), and 64 (-8), securing first place by two strokes over Marian (IN)'s Lane Zedrick. Fielder's precision on the greens and birdie barrage highlighted his dominance throughout the 54-hole event.
The Rams' depth was evident in their lineup, as senior Brady Meek contributed a solid 4-under-par 209 across rounds of 70 (+1), 69 (-2), and 68 (-2), tying for 13th place. Meek's consistent scoring helped stabilize the team after an opening round of +5.
Other notable contributions came from Jose Manuel Sanchez, who rebounded from a +5 opener to card a 65 (-6) in the second round, finishing at +3 overall (39th place). Luke Akerman added a +5 total, while Yevgeniy Ryu and individual competitor T.J. Gigowski rounded out the scoring with +8 and +10, respectively.
Texas Wesleyan's strong showing edged out Oklahoma City by one stroke for fourth place, behind champion Marian (IN) at -26, MidAmerica Nazarene at -23, and Oklahoma City at -18. The tournament, hosted by Morningside University, featured 14 NAIA teams competing under crisp Iowa fall conditions.
The Rams wil next compete on October 6 and 7 and the University of the Southwest Fall Classic.
