Ten Rams Earn NAIA Academic Honors

FORT WORTH — Ten Texas Wesleyan University student-athletes earned NAIA Winter Scholar-Athlete honors for 2026, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced from its Kansas City, Mo., headquarters.

The honorees, all from the Sooner Athletic Conference, include three men's basketball players: seniors Ahmad Jahed and Mandip Nagarkoti and junior Anthony Sierras. Women's basketball is represented by juniors Aniyah Sanford and Mykayla Bement.

Wrestling produced six honorees: senior Camden Whitehead in men's wrestling and seniors Ashley Lekas, Elizabeth Duvall, Leah Ford and Pella LeFever plus graduate student Samantha Barragan in women's wrestling.

To qualify, student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, appear on their sport's eligibility certificate and have attended their institution for at least one full year. Winter sports covered include basketball, bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, swimming & diving and wrestling.

The national list is led by Grand View (Iowa) with 74 honorees, followed by St. Ambrose (Iowa) with 66 and Cumberlands (Ky.) with 60. Women's basketball tops all sports with 926 scholar-athletes, followed by men's basketball with 659. The Heart of America Athletic Conference leads conferences with 401 honorees.

Texas Wesleyan's ten selections highlight the university's continued emphasis on academic excellence alongside athletic competition in the NAIA's winter season.
