FORT WORTH — Texas Wesleyan University's cheer, dance and gameday squads will hold a campus showcase Monday, April 6, as the final send-off before competing at the NCA & NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
All three teams — All-Girl Cheer, Gold Line Dance and the combined Gameday squad featuring cheer, dance and drumline — will perform their nationals routines at 7 p.m. in Sid Richardson Gym. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free. The public is invited to attend and cheer on the Rams before they compete April 8-12 at the NCA & NDA College Nationals.
It marks the first time Texas Wesleyan has entered the Gameday category at nationals.
The showcase caps a busy "Road to Nationals" that included intensive training during spring break's "Sheep Week." During that period, the Gold Line Dance team performed its Spirit Rally routine at a Texas Legends halftime show
.
Last Saturday, the All-Girl Cheer and Gameday teams preformed their nationals routines at the Red Line
Cheer event at Comerica Center in Frisco. On April 3, the same two teams will appear at the Texas Tech North Texas Showcase at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, joining other area college programs including DBU, Navarro, UTA and Texas Tech.
The Gameday squad's participation at nationals represents a milestone for the program, which earned its bid after a strong showing at NCA Cheer Camp last summer at Southern Methodist University.
