OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Texas Wesleyan was recognized with six athletes appearing in the Sooner Athletic Conference All-Conference Awards, announced by the conference Wednesday morning.
Kylie Barnes repeats her feat of being an All-Conference first team selection. Coming off a year in witch she recorded career highs in several categories. With a .416 batting average and recording 69 hits, 65 RBIs, and nine home runs with 35 extra base hits, Barnes stood out offensively among the rest of the conference. Offensively she set a new program record with 21 doubles on the season as well. On the mound Barnes was one of the top pitchers in the conference with a record of 18-9, her most wins and least losses in a season in her career, and a career-low 3.90 earned run average and a career-high 98 strikeouts.
Haylie Delarosa also achieved a first team selection for the second consecutive year. Delarosa is coming off a season where she set a new program record with 81 hits in a single season. In doing so, she recorded a .429 batting average with eight doubles and seven triples. She also recorded 106 total bases on the season.
Arieanna Hernandez, in her freshman season, has been named to the All-Conference second team. Coming off a season where she recorded 47 hits, 27 RBIs, and eight doubles to already put herself in the conversation as a top second baseman in the conference. Just on the other side of second,
Payton Blanco was also named to the All-Conference second team, and on top of that, the only Ram to receive a Gold Glove, and the first to win it in program history at the shortstop position. Blanco recorded 57 hits, 10 doubles, and five home runs with a .358 batting average. Defensively Blanco was a standout as she had a .947 fielding percentage on 209 total chances with 91 putouts and 107 assists.
Rachet Houston and
Christina Jackson both had solid seasons and were recognized with honorable mentions in the All-Conference selections to round out the Rams season.
